Environmental Monitoring Program

In accordance with Chaffee Landfill's NYSDEC Permit Number 9-1462-00001/00006, Chaffee Landfill monitors the groundwater, surface water and air around the facility. We also collect and monitor the leachate that is generated at the facility.
	Annual Cost: $150,000
	Quarterly Sampling and Analysis
	Groundwater (38 Wells) - located at varying depths which sample area water for contaminants
	Surface Water (3 Sites)
	Air - landfill gas is collected: Title V and air quality monitoring in and around landfill is performed quarterly
	Leachate - rain water which has drained through the waste mass and is collected by the liner system Please view the attached Groundwater Flow and Environmental Monitoring Plan to locate the monitoring locations.
