Environmental Monitoring Program

In accordance with Chaffee Landfill's NYSDEC Permit Number 9-1462-00001/00006, Chaffee Landfill monitors the groundwater, surface water and air around the facility. We also collect and monitor the leachate that is generated at the facility.

Annual Cost: $150,000
Quarterly Sampling and Analysis
Groundwater (38 Wells) -
located at varying depths which sample area water for contaminants
Surface Water (3 Sites)
Air -
landfill gas is collected:
Title V and air quality monitoring in and around landfill is performed quarterly
Leachate -
rain water which has drained through the waste mass and is collected by the liner system
